A simple game to play with friends online
Living far from your friends or family? Bear Minimum is a free, simple game you can play together online in a couple of minutes. Get on a call, send everyone a link and take turns dressing up the same blank bear as a secret prompt while the others guess. The rules fit in one sentence: the fewer things you draw, the more points you score, as long as your friends still guess it.
Why it's easy to get going
- One link. Nobody has to download an app, make an account or remember a password.
- It works in any browser, so friends on iPhone, Android, a tablet or a laptop can all play together.
- Explaining the rules takes a minute, and the first round teaches the rest.
- It's a fresh twist on draw-and-guess: drawing badly or barely is a strategy, not a problem.
A good game night setup
- Start a video or voice call on whatever you already use.
- One person creates a room and drops the invite link in the group chat.
- Play live mode, the default: everyone watches the bear being drawn and shouts guesses on the call while typing them in.
- 3 turns each takes around half an hour with 4 players. Drop to 1 or 2 if you're mixing it with other games.
- At the end, the Bear Showcase replays every bear and hands out awards, which is usually the best part.
Between game nights
Keep the group chat going with the daily bear and Guess the Bear. Everyone gets the same prompt and the same puzzle each day, so you can compare scores and streaks without being online at the same time.
Questions
How many people can play?
From 2 to 12 in one room. It's at its best with 4 to 6. The daily bear and Guess the Bear are solo.
Can we play on phones?
Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser, and players can mix phones, tablets and computers in one room.
Do we need to be on a call?
It's more fun with voice, but not required. Guesses and chat happen inside the game, so it also works with everyone in a text group chat.
